Did you know that the cold weather is bad for your heart? First cultivated in China a thousand of years ago, persimmons has slowly traveled across the world and are now widely cultivated throughout America. Known to resemble tomatoes, this yellow-orange fruit is an exotic nutritional powerhouse containing copious amounts of vitamins A, C, E, B6 along with iron, calcium, phosphorus, magnesium, potassium, and manganese. 

Brimming with flavonoids, tannins, betulinic acid, and shibuol a persimmon is an exceptionally protective food and helps to limit cellular oxidative damage and reduce blood pressure as well as serum lipid levels. 

A study in the Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry found that a persimmon a day could be better for your heart than an apple, because they contain significantly higher concentrations of the dietary fiber, minerals and phenolic compounds that prevent atherosclerosis, a leading cause of heart disease, heart attacks, and stroke. Potassium present in this fruit is a great vasodilator and acts on constricted blood vessels, lowering blood pressure and improving blood flow to the heart. 

How To Eat Them
•You can eat two ripe persimmons on a daily basis. The fruit has the flavor and texture of a plum or an apricot but with a slight spicy undertone.
